The Asian fusion restaurant Chow shouldn’t be overlooked on a trip to Wellington.
It has been a while since I last ate at Chow and the last time I was there was as part of a large group. This time I caught them just after they opened so I almost had the place to myself, which gave me time to really check out the place.
Where is it?
Its very central, just off the main Courtney place, on Tory street, it’s a pretty unassuming place, but when you go up the stairs it’s actually a decent size. It’s also right beside the Library (a bar, not a home of books), which is a bonus if you want to go have a cocktail after dinner.
What to expect?
This is not a quiet restaurant, this is more reminiscent of places you would find in Asia, so expect a lot of noise and a lot of activity all around you, but that’s all part of the charm. If your looking for a quiet date night type of place then check out some of my other posts.
Whats the food like?
The food is classic westernised Asian food, so you will be getting things like dumplings, seared tuna, satay sticks etc. It’s all tapas style so this is definitely a good place for sharing.
This is low to medium in terms of price, your looking at $15-20 per plate of tapas food. For two people with drinks, your not going to have much change left from $100.
